North Delta Microgrid Planning
CLP Engineering is working on a new microgrid planning project with the City of Delta. The scope of the project includes a assessment and planning of electric grid upgrades, on-site generation including combined heat and power (CHP) natural gas generator, solar PV, and energy storage to provide resiliency to the Recreation Center and nearby community. Through planning and development of this microgrid project we hope to help the city achieve sustainability and energy resilience during extended regional outages.
Proposed microgrid boundary serves multiple metering locations and ties to a planned 870-kW solar photovoltaic system. The new generation envisioned includes up to a MW on-site generation and potential for energy storage system that will provide both resiliency as well as supplemental heating to the Community Center pool.
In the last five years, our team has performed planning, design, implementation, and O&M services for several microgrid projects across the country, including a similar community-resiliency focused microgrid project at Pitkin County, Colorado. Given this experience we are confident that our knowledge and skills will provide excellent value to this microgrid project. We are looking forward to the development and implementation of this project in the near future.
