CLPE Wins Bid for Windy Gap Electrical Study and Design

CLP Engineering, LLC (CLPE) has been awarded a contract to conduct engineering studies and electrical system upgrades design for the pumping plant at the Windy Gap Reservoir in Grand County, Colorado. The pumping plant, owned and operated by Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District, diverts approximately 48,000 acre-feet water per year from the Colorado River to Lake Granby and then over the mountains to the Front Range.

The pumping plant was constructed in the mid-1980s and consists of four Hitachi 12,000 horsepower pumps at 13.8 kilovolts. Up to four pumps can run simultaneously if adequate runoffs is availiable.
